The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards rolled around the corner for their annual awards ceremony to recognize the top talent in the fashion industry. With that comes celebrities’ runway looks. As I browsed through multiple articles and pictures of the event, the celebrity’s look that intrigued me the most was Evan Mock’s.

At twenty five years old, Evan Mock has made his mark in the multiple talent industries. Mock’s entrance to fame was when he was featured on Frank Ocean’s instagram in a video of him skating with his signature, buzzed pink hair. Since then, he’s made himself known in the fashion, modeling, and acting industries.
Evan Mock collaborated with designer Donté McGuine to develop the brand Wahine. The brand’s name means ‘woman’ or ‘wife’ in Hawaiian. As Mock grew up in Hawaii, the brand represents the “people, surf, and skate culture of Hawaii.” His success with the brand, along with his modeling appearances in Calvin Klein and Fendi campaigns landed him an invite to the CFDA Fashion Awards this year.
The award ceremony is hosted by the CFDA, a company founded in 1962 by Elenor Lambert, who wanted to put American fashion on the map. Currently, 477 of America’s most prominent womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessory designers are a part of the organization. The CFDA owns the Fashion Calendar and Stages the New York Fashion Week: Men’s. The awards ceremony serves as a way for influential people in the fashion industry to be recognized for their contribution to the culture and development of the industry.

With all these fashionable celebrities together, the red carpet recaps of the night captured the diverse styles of outfits worn by the attendees of the event. Other notable celebrities at the event were Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Jaden Smith, and Halle Bailey. Evan Mock’s look in particular offered a fresh take on the classic menswear typically seen on red carpets. Rhuigi Villaseñor from the brand Rhude dressed Mock for the awards. He paired a black leather zip up coat and black leather pants with tinted sunglasses, a gray undershirt, and black dress shoes. The timeless look follows the 2022 leather trend in menswear created by multiple designers. Both Prada and Gucci featured leather pants and full leather looks on their runways this year. Leather adds an edginess and cool element to an outfit, which was executed by Mock flawlessly. His overall lifestyle and look emulates the cool factor needed to pull off the outfit. His menswear look was one to envy at the CFDA awards ceremony.
