A Look at Devonta Smith’s Suit Game

With the Eagles season in full swing, Devonta Smith has not disappointed on the field or off the field. Devonta Smith is known for making an appearance before games in a slick suit, even in his college years at Alabama. Smith works with Brian Alexander Lunsford to create customized suits for his games. Smith’s unique build, being 6 '0 and 170 pounds, gave him the nickname the “Slim Reaper”. Smith’s suits are tailored to be very tight-fitting on his body, showing off his cool physique. His suits almost give a painted-on effect. His suits are never just a simple black and white; he has rocked everything you can think of– from patterned suits to different fabrics– to even Eagles inspired suits. Let's take a look at some of his best suits from this football season as well as from past seasons.

On last Sunday’s game (Oct. 22, 2023) against the Miami Dolphins, Devonta Smith pulled up to the much anticipated home game in a striking emerald green striped suit with a gold handkerchief, gold watch and pin with his initials “DS”. The incorporation of the team colors, especially on a game where the Eagles repped their vintage kelly green uniforms, elevated the team spirit that the Eagles players and fans are iconic for. This suit fit him perfectly and made him look fully game ready.

Devonta sported a similar green-themed suit in October of last year. This suit was a monochrome midnight green color, best representing the current color of the Eagles jersey. The material of the suit is a sophisticated silk that elevates the suit, giving it dimension since it is only one color. Again, he paired his signature pin with the suit as well as a bag and made a stand-out entrance in the rain.

Pulling another look from last season, Smith went with a color contrast to the previous two green suits: a bright rusted orange suit. Smith accessorized this outfit skillfully with a stetson gambler cowboy hat and a Louis Vuitton bag. There are intricate little details like the green layer underneath the jacket and the hooked pin on the jacket that tie the look together. The tie appears to be a darker orange or red with some sort of design involved. Smith tends to go for a dapper and old-fashioned look with a modern twist. He also grew up in Louisiana so the southern influence can be seen as well.

In November 2021, Smith wore a light brown checkered suit with a chocolate brown tie to match. He paired the suit with a brown boater hat that had a red base underneath, adding a pop of color to the outfit. He wore sunglasses, a watch and a pin that appeared to be a brown flower lapel pin. Smith does well with coordinating colors and matching his suits with the time of year as we have seen with the deep greens, rust oranges and browns he chose for fall games.

Another suit from October of last year, 2022, was an all white suit with gold buttons. This suit seemed to be inspired by a sailor suit, with the blue accents for the undershirt and the navy blue tie. Again, Smith incorporated a navy floral pin and the “S” shaped pin. He also wore a handkerchief with a navy blue lining, adding a small detail to the suit. This suit was one of the more simple ones he has worn but it looked classic and great nonetheless.

Even during the season following Covid, Devonta was staying fashionable with a brown suit accessorized with Beats headphones and a mask with an image of a football player running to catch a ball. Fun details like these that connect the outfit to the game of football are always admirable. He wore a maroon tie with a circular pattern on it and his usual pins.

One last look to highlight is from Devonta’s time at the University of Alabama. He has always had an eye for fashion and this is seen in a classic blue suit with a red tie to match his school colors. To see his style evolving even more from when his career first started is fascinating. He is always someone to look forward to to see what he will show up wearing before a big game. He is one of the best dressed athletes of the current time, and just so happens to be an Eagle as well.
