Francesca Aiello has made quite the name for herself with her trendy swimwear brand, Frankie’s Bikinis. Frankie’s bikinis is known for being a fan favorite amongst the supermodel celebs and high profile influencers. The brand prides itself on creating bikinis that are comfortable, eye-catching, and wearable for any body type. Harpers Bazaar magazine has even made a statement on the brand, saying “Frankies Bikinis are made to fit as many body types as possible, and they truly are universally flattering.” It is clear to see that Frankies Bikinis has become A well known and appreciated swimwear brand, and is living up to its reputation.
With all that being said, it’s no surprise that founder Francesca Aiello, and her dear friend, supermodel Gigi Hadid, have decided to collaborate together to create a collection for Frankie’s bikinis. Aiello and Hadid, who have been friends since eighth grade, decided to reminisce on those times and create a swimwear collection that was inspired by their long lasting friendship. Growing up, the two spent countless days on the beach and in swimsuits in general while they relaxed from their schoolwork. The great times they spent were a huge inspiration to this collection.
Aiello believed that through everything they have been through, Hadid would be the perfect person to create this collaboration with. “She is hard working, incredibly intelligent, and the type of person that goes out of their way to make the people around them feel loved and comfortable,” Aiello told Vogue. Hadid, who is just as appreciative of Aiello for the opportunity, told Vogue, “Creating this collection was so special because there are so many details that we incorporated into each piece that are personal to both my friendship with Frank and my personal life.”
Both girls who have clearly created such an immense amount of success since the prime of their friendship, are extremely excited to come together and launch this collaboration. This process of creating their collection came very easy to the two, and they managed to design their entire collection in one meeting. Hadid wanted to put a lot of her own personal touch in these pieces, from floral prints to funky frills. Another extremely important aspect the two wanted to perfect for the bikinis was making sure they were comfortable bikinis that everyone can “wear and feel confident.”
With all of Hadid's outstanding touches to the collection, Aiello added her own “Frankies Bikinis” personal touches as well, including signature square neck suits and triangle tops. They wanted the collection to emphasize their lives as beach-loving surfer girls, but also have that warm, nostalgic vibe that relates to Gigi's new life as a mother on her Pennsylvania ranch.
Looking back on the creation process, they recall their time to be very “nostalgic” and they remember feeling like teenagers again. After finishing the collection and photographing the pieces together, the girls emphasized the amazing, “contagious” energy that they felt throughout the entire process of working together. Aiello says, “coming together to collaborate on a project is something we will never forget.”
