I've known who Emma Chamberlain is for quite some time, however I’ve only recently
taken the time to dive into her content. I’m an avid listener of her podcast, “Anything Goes”,
which discusses deep topics like feeling burnt-out to Chamberlain’s pet peeves. Something as
simple as tuning into her talks has changed me for the better and has helped me navigate through
the tribulations of adulthood. Unlike so many “influencers” and “celebrities”, Emma Chamberlain is a shining example for young women everywhere.
Now, if you’ve ever seen her youtube videos, you'll probably see her in pajamas or sweatpants, not exactly the type of fashion inspiration you're looking for, but I challenge you to look harder. Emma manages to show her unique sense of style, fabulous closet, and passion for thrifting while sharing that it's ok to dress for comfort and simplicity.
Just a while ago, the fashion icon and Pacsun announced a spring/summer collaboration,
all hand selected by Chamberlain. When Teen Vogue inquired about the inspiration behind the
collection, she says:
“The vibe of this collection is very carefree and comfortable. There’s really something for
everybody in this collection. It hits on so many different trends and personality types and
aesthetics. There are some bright and colorful pieces, but there are neutral things in the
collection, and some glittery pieces, too” (Gianluca Russo).
When asked what personal style means to her, Chamberlains states: “Fashion isn’t about what brand you’re wearing. Fashion isn’t about how much something costs, all of that stupid stuff. Fashion is about your personal flare and how you feel when you wear it. That’s something I always try to share with everybody. It doesn’t matter if the person in class next to you liked your outfit or not. If you like it, that’s what matters. That’s what makes fashion fun and such a beautiful thing” (Russo).
This collection has a perfect mixture of staple and statement pieces, while being affordable, an important attribute for college students. Scrolling through, each article of clothing looks more comfortable than the next, while being fashionable altogether. If there is anything to learn from Emma Chamberlain, it is to be comfortable in your own skin, while still being the truest version of yourself.
