Standing as one of the most tragic scandals of Italy in the 1990’s, famous socialite Patrizia Reggiani was accused and found guilty of ordering the assassination of her husband, Maurizio Gucci. This shocking tale is set to be aired on the big screen in Ridley Scott’s new film: House of Gucci. Starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, the film is inspired by the Gucci empire. From what we’ve seen so far, this is an unraveling of what a luxurious name really means, it's’ worth, and how far someone will go to control that worth.
The trailer of House of Gucci released earlier this year. This gave the public a glimpse into the extravagant fashion looks portrayed in the film. The production team and costume designer, Janty Yates, were able to use authentic Gucci archives to replicate the decadence of Italian fashion in the 1990’s. Lady Gaga and Adam Driver wear some of the most iconic looks in the trailers we’ve seen so far.
For one, the diversity of ski fashion reveals a level of grandeur surrounding Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci. When we think of winter fashion , what do we think of? Fur!
In this image, Gaga is wearing a white fur Cossack hat and a fitted turtleneck. The best part about this look is the layering of gold and pearls--even on the ski slopes. On the other hand, Driver is sporting a chunky ivory-coloured báinín with aviator-style glasses. This is a chic moment which compliments Gaga very well.
Personally one of my favourite looks is this glistening moment on Gaga. She is doused in shimmering sequins. In addition to her sequins, she rocks this big hair with a statement neckline that completes the entire look.
Besides the extravagant clothing and accessories, the trailer depicts a camp ambiance of a woman who is on the brink of her sanity. Set to hit theaters nationwide on November 24, 2021, This fascinating story of murder, madness, glamour, and greed is just one of the dark yet dazzling films airing this holiday season.
