Mejuri is a fine jewelry brand that has gained a lot of popularity in the past few
years. Their gorgeous, simple, stackable and affordable pieces are paired with popular
drops and celebrity campaigns that have created a really engaged audience. In addition
to their popular campaign with Renee Rapp, celebrities like Taylor Swift, Olivia
Rodrigo and Selena Gomez have been seen accessorizing with pieces from Mejuri. With
Women's History Month coming up, I would like to recognize Noura Sakkija, the CEO
and Co Founder of Mejuri, and her vision of making ethical and affordable jewelry
while spreading a powerful message.
At a glance, Mejuri is a fine jewelry brand that is designed to be the perfect
middle ground between original and everyday jewelry pieces. Sakkija’s vision for her
jewelry was to make stackable pieces. When examining Mejuri's products, you can see
that while each piece of jewelry can be worn alone, they are designed to be worn
together.
This makes each collection look cohesive, but every piece has something
different about it. An example of this is Renee Rapps gold hoop collection. Each pair is
a unique earring, yet they all combine to create an intriguing stack.
While their jewelry is beautiful and a great way to elevate outfits, it is Sakkijha’s
personal values as a CEO and the motives behind the company that I would like to
highlight. Sakkijha wanted to change the culture around buying jewelry and the
regular practices of fine jewelry companies. Mejuri is a fine jewelry brand that prides
itself on sustainability and affordability. In addition to this commitment to ethics,
Sakkijha put empowerment at the heart of Mejuri’s mission. Fine Jewelry is usually
presented in terms of gift giving and special occasions. However, Sakkijha wanted to
make it so that people, specifically women, would feel empowered to buy themselves
jewelry whenever they want.
Demonstrating their commitment to empowerment and feminism, Sakkijha and
the Mejuri team launched The Empowerment Fund. This initiative has awarded
scholarships to 37 women and non-binary individuals, with $188,000 USD donated to
their charity partners. Sakkihji has used Mejuri to create this extremely engaged
community that was attracted to the functionality, style and affordability of the jewelry.
The purpose and motives around the jewelry company show that there is so much
more behind Mejuri and Noura Sakkijha.
