Susan Korn - better known by her label name of Susan Alexandra, is a fantastic bead artist/badass CEO, making everything from bags to earrings with their signature colourful and eclectic style. She also
recently opened her first store in New York City - address 33 Orchard Street. Susan Alexandra has been
sold in many high end department stores like Neiman Marcus before and appeared in their own
collections for NYFW, but the kaleidoscopic handiwork now has its own flagship location in the heart of one of the world’s fashion capitals.
The brand is committed to creating sustainable art, with every piece being unique and tuned into the ever-changing trend landscape of today. The candy-colored accessories have proven very popular with
the most stylish of New York’s socialites, who all showed up to the grand opening in appropriately flashy outfits. Creating a friendly atmosphere, Susan decided the opening of her flagship store was going to look more like a get-together, serving pizza and cocktails to the closest of friends. Alongside Susan’s fantastic creations, hand-picked by the woman herself are pieces from similarly color-inclined designers, including Dominique Otsuni, Bernie Kaminsky, and Susan’s sister Janie Korn, who presented her hand-made candles at the opening.
Susan Alexandra has caught the eye of many a celebrity, including but not limited to Emily Ratajkowsi, Pete Davidson, Ziwe, and Emma Chamberlain (who has a collab with the brand in the form of a green and white mini bag dubbed simply “Emma Bag”). And it’s easy to see why: the colourful beaded creations are perfectly in line with the recent wave of colour in fashion, neutrals being pushed to the wayside for techwear and subversive basic fanatics to indulge in. But indisputably: 2021 has been the year for colour. Susan Alexandra has had a phenomenal year, and everyone is waiting to see what they’ll come up with for 2022.
