Vamp Up Your Style: Spotlighting Black-Owned Businesses

“It’s weird because I was walking past this storefront [Vamp] one day and saw the store was vacant. I always wanted to open my own boutique, so I thought I’m going to go for it and see what happens.” Little did Theresa know, 13 years later she would be the successful owner of Vamp Boutique!

Located in Manayunk, the center of art scenes in Philadelphia, Vamp Boutique is an inclusive womens’ apparel boutique that offers a carefree, flirty style among their selection of clothing and accessories. According to Theresa, Vamp Boutique’s owner, her store is unique because they offer styles you see on Instagram and Pinterest. Not only that, but Vamp caters to fashion-savvy women of all ages and sizes! It is great to see inclusivity in the Philly fashion scene. Theresa highlights an important point on Vamp’s Instagram, “it’s not about the size you wear but the way you wear your size.” Vamp Boutique believes that style is a substantial part of who you are; we are our best when we look and feel our best.

Moreover, Vamp Boutique knows exactly what to offer to its customers. Theresa explains to MNYK Media that she has not been eyeing “new trends”, but taking spins on old fashion trends. For example, as we know 70s and 80s fashion is making a comeback. Vamp Boutique satisfies this demand by including neon colors, animal print, crochet styles, and bell bottoms. Women enjoy following the current trends but also being able to add their own twist. This is Vamp’s expertise.

Switching the focus from customer demand to customer service, Vamp Boutique stands out in this aspect. Philly locals rate Vamp Boutique at 4.8 stars on Google. Overall, women appreciate their interactions with Theresa in the store. Shoppers say that the owner is “extremely friendly” and “wonderful at styling you”. Vamp is great at giving people what they want: personal, memorable shopping experiences. When you leave a store, you want to feel excited and confident about your purchase. Not only that, but several locals highlight their love for Vamp’s unique pieces among the more common ones. Again, it allows the customer to curate their own distinctive style.

If you live in the Philadelphia area, take a trip to Manayunk and stop in Vamp Boutique. Also, be sure to check out their social media platforms as well. We encourage the support of small businesses and small, Black-owned businesses.
