Soumya Sriram

2024 was a high-contrast year for fashion with the Y2K revival popularizing bold prints, bright colors, and fun graphics while simultaneously minimalism and curating timeless wardrobes bombarded many’s for-you-pages. As we enter 2025, a new wave of trends is emerging on the runway and social media. From boho chic to bag charms, 2025 will be a year of edginess and fun. Explore some 2025 trend predictions to elevate your style this year:

Suede + Boho Chic

At the end of 2024, “...suede had a total growth of 128% (on Instagram)....” (Frida Tordhag, CNN). Its immense growth signifies that it is not going anywhere and will persist into 2025, especially in “boho chic” looks. Boho chic has been all over Tiktok and Pinterest, with creators like @allina_ai popularizing the style. Touchstones of the style include fringe, studded embellishments, ruffles, and flowy silhouettes. Designers like Isabel Marant and the brand Free People capture the essence of this style well.

Aquatic Vibes

Tropical blues, sequins, metallics, and sea shells will be major motifs of this year, especially in spring and summer. As stated by Heuritech, “For summer 2025, turquoise is forecasted to increase by +8% compared to the previous summer, while mermaid-inspired elements like sequins and fishtail maxi dresses are expected to grow by +20%...”. Bag Charms

We as a society are more interested in personal expression than ever before. Bag charms provide a stylish and creative way to reflect our personalities subtly. WGSN runway data reflected that bag charms were up 5.6% in popularity for Spring-Summer 2025. Brands like Miu Miu Coach have already embraced the charm phenomenon with these iconic pieces:

Skinny Jeans

Finally, the most controversial trend that may reemerge this year is skinny jeans. Forecasters feel that we are in an early-testing phase and wide leg remains the preferred silhouette, but nonetheless slimmer fitting jeans have been spotted on Spring-Summer 2025 catwalks for the first time in years. Alix Earle’s collab with Frame Denim heavily signaled this shift to slim denim, as her collab was all about creating a sleek, straight jean.
