For the first time in Temple Fashion & Business history, there is going to be a career fair on April 10th from 11 AM to 1 PM. Approaching how to prepare to speak or what to wear is undeniably overwhelming. Here are ways to prepare for this exciting fair!
What a person wears speaks volumes in the eyes that are interviewing you. Just think about it! When you first see someone; what do you see? It is how they present themselves! Showing up to a career fair not only showcases your professionalism but also shows a sprinkle of your personality and how you perceive yourself. If you look good, you feel good!
With that being said, a great outfit that never fails is what I like to call a power suit. Sophisticated, comfortable, and professional all while looking polished. You should match your blazer with dress pants and a nice blouse underneath. In this career fair, a pop of color t-shirt would be fantastic as it catches the eyes of the recruiters. Depending on which career fair you attend; dress accordingly and aesthetically to what you believe the recruiters will be drawn to. For instance, if you were going to a Fox School of Business Career Fair; dark, monotone, and nude shades would be ideal. Other options such as a dress or a skirt with a blouse would be perfect! If you are like me and cannot find clothes because the length is always too long; Loft is my top choice for these events! Accessories should be clean and minimalistic. Choosing to wear statement rings is not a go-to for this outfit. In terms of shoes; heels, flats, and loafers are definitely a must! Professionalism should come in comfort. This means that if you cannot walk in stilettos, do not attempt to!! Schedule a day where you can practice on how you walk! Your walk is powerful and should be filled with confidence.
How to talk to recruiters? It can be nerve wracking and scary talking to them. You only have a couple of minutes with them as there might be a long line waiting behind you. Remember there are hundreds of faces they see, it is what you do that makes you stand out. So, show a little bit of your personality and act like yourself! I suggest practicing how you introduce yourself. It sounds silly thinking about it but it is an essential part of
the process on how to stand out! Always have a smile on your face and be fully engaged with the recruiter.
That is it! I hope to see you all check out for the first time ever Temple Fashion & Business Career Fair that is happening on April 10th from 11 AM to 1 PM!
