Kim & Pete– Style Icons?

It’s no secret that Kim Kardashian’s style evolution has been heavily defined by her relationship status. Pre-Kanye, her wardrobe was typical of a Hollywood socialite, mirroring the style and aesthetic of then best friend and boss Paris Hilton. In 2012, on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kanye overhauled Kim’s closet, tossing out gaudy shoes, over-the-top bags, and silhouette hugging bandage dresses, and replacing them with sleek, minimalist, and monochromatic pieces that Kim is known for today. Since then, Kim had become the muse for the series of Yeezy collections designed by Kanye.

Prior to the finalization of the KimYe divorce, their divorce battle was being played out in Balenciaga. During the Donda live release event, both Kim and Ye– as well as the rest of the West & Kardashian clan, were donned completely in Balenciaga, assuming this was Balenciaga’s genius approach to marketing, the couple brought the brand to legendary status. Because both Kim and Ye were being photographed constantly, due to the impending divorce and lore over the Donda album, their monochromatic Balenciaga looks were being photographed and posted everywhere, cementing a style era for KimYe, even if they were on the brink of divorce.

Since the official news of their split, Kim and Kanye have brought their divorce battle into fashion. Kanye dressed then GF Julia Fox head to toe in the brand, while Kim committed to wearing Balenciaga to star-studded events such as the Grammys. Both stars have cemented their commitment to Balenciaga, and have provided us with a Vogue-worthy battle over who can out- Balenciaga who.

In Kim’s Instagram debut with Pete, she wore a head-to-toe Balenciaga outfit, but the Balenciaga sparkly trench stole the show, the look was experimental and out-there for Kim, but matches the personal style and influence of Pete Davidson’s own style.

However, Kim has since moved on to Pete Davidson the man known for making the lazy-boy aesthetic the norm, similar to other comedian celebrities such as John Hill. Pete is styled by Britt Theodora Kim’s style has already begun to loosen up and change, instead of neutral monochromatic looks, she’s been opting for casual looks, like the denim jumpsuit look worn to a dinner date with Pete.

Earlier this spring, Kim wore an experimental look from Balenciaga, a flame patterned bodycon dress, with big statement sunglasses. Kim’s look was more colorful and experimental, similar to Davidson’s personal style. Kim has slowly been relaxing from the minimal, monochromatic, Yeezy-inspired looks that she was once famous for.

Additionally, we see Kim rotating back to form-fitting silhouettes, reminiscent of her personal style before Kanye. For the red carpet premiere of The Kardashians, Kim wore a silver bodycon dress by Mugler, with a silver statement choker, and her hair was up in a messy updo. Pete Davidson attended as well, marking a new era and milestone for the couple.
