Next In Fashion is a Netflix original series that first aired in 2020, and was sadly canceled after its first season. Contrary to that cancellation, the show is returning for a new season in the near future. In the previous season, the show was hosted by Queer Eye’s very own Tan France and model/fashion designer Alexa Chung. The show has a group of designers compete by showing their designs in hopes to win a grand cash prize, and to have their collection sold on Net-A-Porter. Designer Minju Kim was crowned the winner of last season, winning the $250,000 prize and launching her line on Net-A-Porter. With this win and the exposure that has come from it, Kim has grown her profile extensively, allowing her to collaborate with many exciting brands. Kim spoke about her success following her Next In Fashion win, saying
"Since Next in Fashion, a lot of fans around the world, including those who weren’t that interested in fashion before, sent me messages" (First season winner, Minju Kim, and host Tan France shown on the left).
News has hit that Chung will no longer be returning for the upcoming season for undisclosed reasons. However, it has been confirmed that none other than supermodel, Gigi Hadid, will be taking Chung’s place. Hadid and France have emphasized their eagerness to begin this journey together, and France posted a picture of the pair, captioning it: “Who would have thought when we met over Facetime 4 years ago that we’d be hosting NEXT IN FASHION TOGETHER! You read that right! The secret’s out.”
Hadid also made a statement on her excitement for this opportunity, saying “We’re working with the production team right now, finalizing guest judges and episodes with the hope that the audience feels how much fun and love we’re putting into everything.” While she is one of the most renowned supermodels in the industry, Hadid has also had her fair share of reality television. Her mother was a part of the show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where Gigi made various appearances and began to get used to life in front of the camera. She also made her own debut as a guest judge on Project Runway, so she clearly knows what she is doing.
With Hadid’s talk of finalizing who the guest judges will be, we are left plenty of room for anticipation about who these special guests could possibly be. The previous season had quite the array of people in the fashion industry guest judging each episode, ranging from designers Tommy Hilfiger and Christopher Kane to supermodel Adriana Lima. Knowing that they had such an exciting list of guest judges in their first season, it is awfully thrilling to think of who will be joining them on the upcoming season. While there is no word of any possible guests, anticipating the various ideas of who they could be is quite exhilarating.
Fans are not only very excited to see who will be guests on Next In Fashion, but for the return of the show in general. Twitter is filled with various fans expressing their joy for this long-awaited return. One fan says, “OMG i loved the first season with the winner Minju Kim (I knew, she would be the winner) and I wanna see more, it's my fav reality show by Netflix.” Another fan expresses her gratitude for the show's revival, saying “I'm super happy that this was pulled back to life!”
It is still uncertain when this season will be airing, but we do know they are currently in the works of finding designers for the competition. We will be sure to keep our eyes peeled for any insight on the specific date Next in Fashion will be returning!
